28th Annual Swinging for Scholarships Golf Outing Raises $10,000

8/19/2026

For 28 years, Members First Credit Union’s Swinging for Scholarships Golf Outing has brought people together for one important goal: helping students pursue their dreams. This year, the outing raised $10,000 to support student scholarships.

Hosted at PohlCat Golf Course, the event brought together 34 teams, 144 golfers, and more than 64 sponsors for a day of friendly competition, community connections, and a shared commitment to investing in the next generation.

What started 28 years ago with just two $500 scholarships has grown into one of Members First's signature community initiatives. Today, the credit union awards four $2,500 scholarships each year, continuing a tradition rooted in education. Founded 90 years ago, in 1936, by teachers and school employees, Members First remains committed to helping students achieve their educational and career goals.

“Our annual Swinging for Scholarships outing is one of my favorite examples of what happens when a community comes together around a shared purpose,” shared Bethany Dutcher, Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer at Members First Credit Union. “Every golfer, sponsor, volunteer, and supporter plays a role in helping students pursue their educational goals and build a brighter future. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and partnership that make these scholarships possible.”

This year's scholarships were awarded to Abigail Boyd, Grace Spence, Kyley Wyman, and Summer Pomaville four outstanding students who will pursue degrees in business, nursing, and the sciences while continuing their commitment to leadership and service.

Members First Credit Union extends its sincere thanks to the golfers, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and the team at PohlCat Golf Course for making this year's event another success.
