M1 Helping to Create Thriving Communities
Members First Credit Union (M1) team members rolled up their sleeves and spent the day giving back to communities across eight Michigan counties. With 231 volunteers supporting 22 organizations, the day was full of energy, teamwork, and plenty of joy.
Bay County volunteers sorted clothing and goods for youth in foster care at the Foster Families Navigation & Resource Center, prepared items for resale at the center’s boutique, removed invasive species and cleared litter with Saginaw Land Basin Conservancy at Niagara Woods, a 14-acre nature preserve, and pitched in at Studio 23 by sorting donations, restocking racks, and painting gallery pedestals.
In Clare County, seniors received care and support as volunteers packed food boxes at MMCAA, while in Gladwin County, team members prepared meals at New Dawn Shelter, tackled light cleaning at the Beaverton Activity Center, supported Antler Arms High Rise with meal delivery and organization, and ensured residents received meals through Maple Manor Dining Center, Beaverton Manor Dining Center, and Billings Township Hall Dining Center.
Volunteers in Isabella County sorted donations and restocked racks at Clothing Inc. in Mt. Pleasant, while in Kent County, they packed sack meals at Kids Food Basket in Grand Rapids to ensure children had nutritious food for the week. Midland County was buzzing with activity as volunteers helped with home improvement projects at Habitat for Humanity in Coleman, organized donations at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, assisted at the Children’s Grief Center with cleaning and craft prep, spruced up playgrounds at the Coleman Family Center, and supported light upkeep at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
In Osceola County, residents at Eagle Village enjoyed a refreshed space thanks to team members removing old flooring at the Campus House. Meanwhile, Saginaw County volunteers spent time in kitchens and dining areas at the Saginaw Rescue Mission, organized the mentor library at the READ Association, and packed bulk food into family-size portions at Hidden Harvest, making sure neighbors had what they needed.
“These projects truly demonstrate the power of teamwork,” said Chelsea McKenzie, Community Impact Specialist. “When dedicated, passionate, and fun people come together, we not only make a meaningful impact but also advance our mission of fostering a better tomorrow and our vision of thriving communities.”
Members First Credit Union remains committed to building thriving Michigan communities — one act of service at a time.
