Foster Care Awareness Month!

Did you know May is Foster Care Awareness Month? Did you know according to the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange there are more than 3,000 children in Michigan waiting for permanent, loving homes to call their own each year?

Staff from our branches in Grand Rapids are teaming up to raise money for D.A. Blodgett - St. Johns which supports children in foster care. In May, their focus is to put together personal backpacks for children of all ages. The "care bag" contains items they can immediately call their own upon moving into their foster home. Our Kentwood Branch, Jenison Branch, and Ann St. Branch in Grand Rapids are all collecting needed items for the backpacks and cash donations during the month of May. Below is a list of needed items showing what is placed in each category of "care bag".
