Members First Scholarships

The scholarship application period has ended. The applications are currently being reviewed.

Whether you are a high school senior looking forward to college, working toward a new career, or making plans to attend a technical school, your higher education journey is important to us! Our scholarship program awards scholarships to four deserving students each year. 

 

Members First awards a total of $10,000 in scholarships, to be split between four students, in $2,500 increments.

 

Scholarship recipients are selected on a number of criteria including:

  • Academic record
  • Short essay response (200-500 words)
  • Participation in community activities/honors/work experience
  • Education and career goals

Those applying for a scholarship must meet the following guidelines:

  • Must be the primary owner of a Members First Credit Union account in good standing
  • Must be attending or have graduated from an accredited high school
  • Must be accepted/enrolled in an accredited institution and/or working towards their first undergraduate degree
  • Answer the question "What does the credit union promise of 'People Helping People' mean to me?" in either a 200-500-word essay OR in a short prerecorded video*.
  • Must include transcript from high school or college, can be unofficial
  • Must provide an essay outlining goals, aspirations, college, and career plans
  • Must NOT be an MFCU employee, immediate family member of an MFCU employee, MFCU board member or an immediate family member of an MFCU board member

*Video submission rules: video must be uploaded to YouTube. Please note that you must select "public" or "unlisted" in the privacy settings found under the broadcasting and sharing options section when uploading your video file to YouTube otherwise we will be unable to access your submission. Please note that selecting “public” will make the video available for anyone to view. You must also include the entire URL on this submission form. You, the applicant, are responsible for retaining at least one copy of the video in the event of a damaged or lost file.
